This project kicked off using the BIM process to mitigate any field constraints. We began construction in early 2020 and will complete in December 2020. A total of 3 AHU and several VAV’s were the main driving component for the ventilation in this building. The duct system was composed of over 1200 linear feet of large dual-wall spiral ductwork, and another 1,500 linear feet of single-wall ductwork.
A complete renovation including additions in which the design converted the existing courtyard into usable building space. The major ventilation equipment includes 11 new RTU’s and 1 new AHU while the ducting system is comprised of 7,000 linear feet of rectangular/spiral duct and another 600 plus feet of Fabric ductwork.
The Central Power Plant is a highly efficient, reliable on-campus source of heat and electricity that supports mission-critical functions across U-M, including life-saving research and the 24/7 demands of a major regional medical center. The University of Michigan is expanding its CPP with a 12,000 square foot building addition that with house a new 15-megawatt combustion turbine that will reduce the university’s greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 80,000 tons per year. This project includes ductwork, roof mounted and inline fans, multiple fire, backdraft and motorized dampers, topped off with a massive 56’x7′ mechanical louver.
A new 4 story 236,000 sqft. office building in which includes DOAS, FCUs, and VAVs providing the building’s ventilation needs. The project consists of offices, bathrooms, and even its own 8 hood kitchen system. A project completion we will have erected a total of 23,500 linear feet of ductwork. This is a project in which the BIM process was utilized to ensure a fluid installation process.
The new dance building at The University of Michigan will be approximately 24,000 square feet and will include a 100-seat performance venue, dance studios, locker rooms, and administrative space. A total of 29 zoned VAV boxes drive this ventilation system to allow each space separate occupancy control.
A new 4 story addition to the existing Wilson Hall consisting of office and student spaces, including minor renovations to the existing building. The building will incorporate over 100 VAV boxes fed from 2 large Air handling Units to suite the building patrons. S&Z, Johnson & Wood, and Rockford Construction collaborated through the BIM process to minimize clashes for all MEP trades.
